Basic Procedures 

Parking

Parents may park on Berkley Street or on surrounding neighborhood streets.  No one may park by the entrance or exit to the driveway.  Parking lots at the school are reserved for teachers and staff.  Do not cross the street between parked cars.  Cross your children by the crossing guards.  Please encourage your children to walk on sidewalks and not in the parking lot.

Arrival/Dismissal

Children are asked to arrive at school no earlier than 8:15 a.m.  Line-up is on the blacktop in the rear of the building. Second grade students line-up by classroom doors, and fifth grade students line up by the new wing.  During inclement weather, all students will enter through the doors by the gym at 8:15 a.m.

Students are dismissed at 3:10 p.m.  Third through fifth grade students are dismissed by the gym.  Students in kindergarten through grade two are dismissed at their classroom doors.  Students must be picked up promptly at 3:10 p.m.  If you are unable to pick up students at dismissal time, please request an application for the Latchkey Program.

 
Visitors

All visitors to the Berkley Street School building must report to the office to sign in and pick up a visitor's pass.  There are no exceptions to this rule. 

Lunch

Lunch/recess for children in grades 3 through 5 is from 11:30 – 12:25.  Children going home for lunch should arrive back at school by 12:25. 

Lunch/recess for children in kindergarten through grade 2 is 12:30 – 1:25. Children going home for lunch should arrive back at school by 1:25. 

**Children will continue to go outside for fresh air and recess in the cooler weather.  Please be sure children have coats, gloves and hats in the morning with this in mind.

NJ ASK DATES

Please mark these important testing dates on your calendars: 

Grades 3, 4 & 5 – May 10-14              

Please do not park in any area of the school driveway.  This is a fire zone and cars may not be left unattended at any time.  Please park on Berkley Street if you need to enter the school for any reason.  Thank you to everyone who is continuing to pull all the way forward in our driveway.  This allows the maximum number of cars to enter and provides for the most efficient way to discharge children.  During good weather, the children will line up in back of the school on the blacktop. 

Playground Reminders

Students may not use the playground before morning line-up, and must have adult supervision after school.  Latchkey has exclusive use of the playground from approximately 3:30 to 5:30. Thank you for helping us with our playground rules.    

Lunch Procedures

Lunch orders must be in by Tuesday morning for the following week.   Your payment must accompany the lunch order.   In order to provide a lunch for every student who orders on time, there is no flexibility in this deadline.
