Kindergarten Mrs. Battaglia, Miss Harvey, Miss Kochman, Miss Potosky
Happy Spring! We have been very busy in Kindergarten! The students have been learning about Earth Day and Plants by completing lots of really fun projects! The students had a ton of fun at the Earth Day Assembly where we learned the importance of the phrase ”Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle” though some very silly songs. We are also looking forward to Field Day coming up in a couple of weeks. In language arts we continue to learn new letters and words each week. The students have been very busy sounding out simple words in our stories each week. We are also becoming better writers! We use our sight words and other words that we can sound out to write sentences during Writer’s Workshop! Learning word families has also helped us with our reading and writing. In math the students continue to participate in hands-on activities to help them understand the concepts being taught. We have been working on coins, graphing, shapes, number stories, place value, time, and ordering numbers. Zippy has been teaching about making and breaking friends. We have discussed ways to keep our friends, as well as what to do when someone might not be acting like a good friend. Please continue to practice sight words, decoding words, and numbers with your child!
