5510 - Introduction to Computer Graphics
(Introduction to Graphic Arts)
This course introduces the use of hardware and software for production and design in graphic arts. Topics include graphical user interface and current industry uses such as design, layout, typography, word processing, illustration, imaging for production, and multimedia and web design. Upon completion, students should be able to understand and use the computer as a fundamental design and production tool.
5520 - Advanced Desktop Publishing
(Technical Graphics)
This course covers advanced design and layout concepts utilizing illustration, page layout, and imaging software in graphic arts. Emphasis is placed on enhancing and developing the skills that were introduced in Introduction to Computer Graphics. This course is designed to meet the needs of a group of highly motivated students dealing with advanced photo reproduction along with advanced layout and graphic design. Upon completion, students should be able to select and utilize appropriate software for design and layout solutions.
5520 - Advanced Multimedia Design
(Production Graphics)
This course introduces the fundamentals of multimedia/web design and production for computer-related presentations. Topics include interface design, typography, storyboarding, scripting, simple animation, graphics, digital audiovideo, web site components and copyright issues. Upon completion,students should be able to demonstrate the ability to design and produce multimedia presentations and interactive web sites.
