GIRLS BASKETBALL
The girls' baketball team is currently 4-0 (2-0 in league play) by defeating Dwight Englewood 51-29 and defeating Emerson 50-46 this past week. In the Emerson league game, center Sam DeFreese had 25 points, 16 rebounds, and 7 blocks. Allie Ehrhart had ten points and 9 rebounds in the win. Their girls hosted and won the Holiday Tournament by defeating Westwood 58-29. Guards Justine Racaza and Cassidy Holowach both had 12 points apiece in the win. In the finals, the girls defeated Demarest 61-37 to win the championship. Guards Justine Racaza and Cassidy Holowach both had 17 points and center Sam DeFreese had 13 points and 14 rebounds. Junior guard Jamie Errico had 8 points and 4 steals in the game. This week the team travels to Leonia on Tuesday 1/6 and on Friday 1/9 host Palisades Park. On Saturday January 10th, the girls travel to Park Ridge at 12pm to play in a Breast Cancer Awareness tournament.
BOYS BASKETBALL
The Knights hope to start the New Year fresh with three games this upcoming week. The team plays at home Tuesday night against league front-runner Leonia. Later in the week, the boys travel to Hawthorne Christian on Thursday night and follow that with a game at Palisades Park on Friday(1/9). All games are at 7pm. The Knights have been playing some exciting basketball with Sophomore Jeremy Clarke leading the team in scoring at 15 points per game, Junior Raymond Morrissey leading the team with 10 rebounds per game, and strong contributions from senior co-captains Chris Colasurdo and Robin Rebustillo.
GIRLS INDOOR TRACK
The Girls Indoor Track team is off to a good start. The first meet of the season was the Season Opener Invitational at the FDU Rothman Center. At the meet, the relay team of Melissa Finnigan, Kasumi Almeida, Meredith McCann and Elise Munier finished 7th out of 23 teams in the Novice 4-Lap Relay. The next meet on the schedule is the Bergen County Relays on 1/28 and the Icicle Invitational at Secaucus High School on 1/31.
BOYS INDOOR TRACK
The boys also participated in the Season Opener Invitational at the FDU Rothman Center. Senior Tony Crouchelli ran a personal best in the 1600 meter (1 mile) run and the 3200 meter relay team also ran very well for the first time together. There were also some excellent performances in the sprints by: John Follety, Ryan Fernandez, Nick Novak, Cody Carlson, and senior Steven Conner. It looks to be a very promising season as the boys have been working extremely hard in practices and doing their best to get ready for each meet. The next meet, which is the Bergen County Relays, is on January 28th at the New York City Armory.
BOWLING
The bowling team currently has a record of 8 wins and 2 losses. The only losses have come against league contenders Leonia and North Arlington. The team has been led by Anthony Karalian, Andrew Schrenzel, Matt Lajoie, Kirk Reyes and Justin Munier. This season the team high games have totaled 829, 809 and 813. Upcoming matches include: 1/5 vs. Wallington, 1/6 vs. Wallington and 1/10 Singles Classic Tournament at the Parkway Lanes. The team is off to a great start and is hopeful to be in the running for the league title this year.
WRESTLING
The wrestling team competed in the BCCA wrestling tournament at Rockleigh Community College this past weekend. Senior Dan Suarez had a strong tournament by taking second place, after a hard-fought overtime loss in the finals. The team kicks off their regular season schedule with a home match vs. Leonia/Pal. Park on 1/7 and an away match vs. Cresskill, Emerson and Becton on Saturday 1/10.
