Mrs. Bazaz grew up a few miles away in Palisades Park, where she liked to ice skate, draw, and read. She spent many a hot summer day building castles in Wildwood, Cape Cod, and Point Pleasant. When she grew up, she went to St. Peter's University, and then did some graduate work at Montclair State. She married, had 2 lovely daughters, Sara and Joelle, and moved to New Milford. When her youngest daughter was in kindergarten she began volunteering at the Gibbs library, then substitute teaching, and then finally, was offered a full-time position in 1999 teaching first grade.
When she is not teaching 6 and7-year-olds how to read, write, and do math, she likes to talk about books with Miss Farricker, paint en plein air near the Hudson River, draw, and hike in Harriman. You can catch her walking to and from school in good weather.
