Welcome! My name is Zachary Lee, and I have been teaching at David E. Owens Middle School since 2018. I teach ELA in the 6th, 7th and 8th grade Resource and In-class support settings.  With a background in special education, my main philosophy as an educator is that each student has the right and ability to achieve a great education. I enjoy getting to know the interests of my students and incorporating them into the classroom. I believe this leads to strong, meaningful learning experiences and keeps students motivated to keep achieving. My goal is for each student to become a more proficient reader and writer. Through reading and writing, students will learn to express themselves and build a solid foundation for their schooling beyond my classroom.

Grade Allocation:

65% Assessments

25% Classwork (Various in-class activites)

10% Homework 

Assessment Retakes: Students must complete retake form AND attend one extra help session before retaking assessment.

The Gradebook on PowerSchool will be updated in a timely manner.

All Homework (that isn't ongoing) will be announced through Google Classroom by 4:00 p.m that day.

Test/Quiz/Project announcements will be made on Google classroom one week (or more) in advance. Study Guides will be posted when appropriate. 

Parents should contact their child's guidance counselor if they need access to PowerSchool. 

Parents should reach out to me (preferably through e-mail) if they are not receieving Google Classroom updates.
