I believe that we all learn in different ways; on our own, social interaction with a group, and other universal ways. I want to try and find what is universal between our languages and cultures in order to make the transition from English to Mandarin less stressful and alienating.
I graduated from Rutgers University with a BA in Chinese. Previously, I taught Mandarin Chinese at a local private school for ten years, before teaching at DEO. I know this coming semester will be another new and exciting experience for both of my students and myself.
Nelson Mandela once said, "If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language, it goes to his heart."
