Miss Rebecca Myers

Education Background:

I graduated from River Dell High School back in 2012. After high school, I attended Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey, wherein 2016; I obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Family and Child Studies in a School Setting. I remained at Montclair State University and received a Master's Degree in Teaching in 2018. I am currently certified to teach Preschool - 3rd, Kindergarten - 5th, as well as Students with Disabilities (K - 12).

Professional Background:

I began my journey as a teacher during high school and college. I was lucky enough to work as a student-teacher within a special education pre-school class, an inclusion preschool class, a general education kindergarten, and a resource room where I worked with students from 2nd - 5th. New Milford Public School District is where I found my first teaching position, and I have worked here over a year as a 4th and 5th-grade special education teacher in the IBC (Inner Bridge Crossing) Program.

Personal Background:

I currently live in the area with my fiance Dan but grew up only one town over in River Edge, where the rest of my family still resides - including my lovely lab, Sandy! On most weekends, you can find me with family and friends enjoying their company, maybe catching a New Jersey Devils game at The Prudential Center. During my downtime, I love staying active, cooking, photography, reading, and traveling; most recently, I visited Greece!

As a Teacher...

I believe that a classroom should be a safe, nurturing environment for all.

I believe all students have the right to learn.

I believe it is my job to meet students where they are academically, socially, and emotionally and utilize their strengths to support their growth and development.

I believe that as a school community, everyone can be a teacher and a learner if they are willing to listen.

I believe that having a positive attitude can be your most effective tool in the classroom.

I believe that I can make a difference in my students’ lives and help them achieve their goals by truly caring about them as individuals.
