Ms. Farricker

Ms. Farricker has taught first grade at Gibbs School for 14 years. She attended Providence College in Rhode Island and has dual certification in elementary education and special education.  Ms. Farricker earned her Master's Degree in Literacy from St. Thomas Aquinas College in Summer 2011. Since then, she has taken additional credits on topics of interest such as hands-on math activities and explorations, multiculturalism in the classroom, and personality styles and their effect on learning.

Ms. Farricker strives to create a classroom in which students are familiar with the behavioral and academic expectations set forth. She maintains an environment where students respect each other and work cooperatively to achieve goals. Her students absolutely love Readers and Writers Workshop and during those times she can frequently be found conducting writing conferences or guiding small group instruction.  Miss Farricker feels strongly that small group instruction is imperative in first grade so that all students are able to reach their own individual milestones appropriate to their developmental level.

Ms. Farricker was a founding member of the New Milford Education Foundation and served on its Board until 2015. She has also served as an after-school enrichment teacher and response to intervention teacher. She absolutely loves to read and frequently receives book recommendations from other members of the Gibbs staff.
