Keith Bachmann

Keith Bachmann is married to Vikki.  They have been married 31 years, and have three children, Christine (NHHS 2005); Jacqueline (NMHS 2007); Matthew (NMHS 2012).

After graduating from NMHS in 1975 he attended Kean College of New Jersey where he was a member of the College Soccer Team and the Lacrosse Team.  During those years he had about 10 different jobs because he had to support himself through college and pay for books, housing and some tuition.  Mr. Bachmann received B.A. Degree in Industrial Education in June of 1979.  He took a year off between college and law school and worked so he could pay for it.  He worked as a teacher by day in Union City (where he met his wife) while attending New York Law School in the evenings, from 1980 through 1984 after which he received a Juris Doctorate.

Keith was admitted to the New Jersey Bar in 1985 and he was a trial lawyer until June, 2011.  He had a general practice.  He litigated commercial cases ,as well as,injury cases.  He defended people charged with crimes and offenses and handled real estate transactions.

In June of 2011, Governor Chris Christie appointed him to be a Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey.   He was first assigned to the Civil Division where he was assigned to landlord/tenant matters, to handle small claims cases and to handle civil trials in what is referred to as District Court.  After one year he was transferred to the Family Division where he remains.  Now he decide matters involving custody, visitation, child support, spousal support, college contribution, grandparent visitation claims, the removal of children to another state, domestic violence allegations and allegations of child neglect and abuse.

He had the honor of being appointed by the Mayor and Council  to serve as New Milford Municipal Attorney, 2000 & 2001 and  to serve as New Milford Municipal Judge, 2012, 2013, 2014.

He was elected by the people of the Borough of New Milford to serve on the Town Council in 2006 and again in 2010
He was appointed by the other members of the Town Council to serve as Council President in January 2011 and served until he was appointed to the Superior Court of New Jersey in June of 2011.

Along the way he taught Civil Litigation at Fairleigh Dickinson University, 2007 through 2010 and he has advised the New Milford Mock Trial Team since January of 2003 and before that, the River Dell Mock Trial Team from 1993 through 2003.
